About This Show

Sylvia is a romantic comedy about the state of a marriage and a street-smart dog, in which playwright A. R. Gurney introduces us to a successful New York couple whose union seems have lost its bloom. Greg, a middle-aged businessman, finds a dog, Sylvia, in Central Park and brings her home, much to the chagrin of his wife, Kate. Their marriage has been lately distant, so when Kate sees the lavish affection Greg is heaping on Sylvia, she also sees another side to the man she thought she knew so well. As the relationship between man and dog becomes a catalyst for the couple to reevaluate their own marriage, the audience is treated to a unique experience; Sylvia is played by an actress, whose wonderful, wise, and funny lines are flavored as you would expect if a dog could speak – blunt, simple, and occasionally profane. The dog becomes a rival for attention and a major bone of contention between husband and wife. Through a series of hilarious and touching complications, this triangle becomes a family circle. This show is not recommended for children under 18
