New York City
Am-a-Rikan Productions presents its first LA production, Poppa Dio (Father-God) from La Puta Vida Trilogy (This Bitch of a Life), an original New York Production by New York Shakespeare Festival, Produced by Joseph Papp and written by Reinaldo Povod.
Directed by the duo of Alejandro Cardenas and Adrian Alvarado, Poppa Dio shows us that violence is not only confined to the streets but lurks in our homes. Opening with Angelo (Adrian Alvarado) brutally killing his ex-stripper mother Mafia (Tomiko Martinez), the author takes us back to the beginning where we see the nature of this Mother/Son relationship or lack thereof. With elements of Oedipus complex flowing through the scenes, it is difficult to pin point where exactly this Mother/Son relationship took the wrong turn.
