New York City
Mr. Marmalade is a smartly inventive look at the games people play as seen through the eyes of an extraordinarily advanced four-year-old with a vivid imagination. In the long hours she spends without her preoccupied mother, young Lucy invents a strange new world and an even stranger man to inhabit it. Mr. Marmalade is very dapper, but very hard to pin down. He promises to cut his work schedule and spend more time with her, even to take her on the vacation they had discussed. But things get messy and Mr. Marmalade goes missing. Then Lucy befriends their five-year-old neighbor, Larry, who has his own serious issues to work out.
