About This Show

Based on the original play by George Kaufman and Moss Hart, MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG, with music and lyrics by Sondheim and book by George Furth, follows three best friends: a composer, a lyricist, and a writer as they trace the milestones of their personal and professional lives from the present to the past. Their friendship is tested by the demands of success as they ask each other “how did we get here from there?” The musical features some of Sondheim’s most heartfelt songs, such as “Old Friends,” “Growing Up,” the hit song “Not A Day Goes By,” and the title song, “Merrily We Roll Along.” In a rare co-production agreement, WCE teams up with Carole Black, an independent producer. Black is a subscriber to WCE and a long-time admirer and friend of Sondheim.
