About This Show

A notoriously absurdist classic gem set in a model political bureaucracy where a harassed manager unwittingly authorizes an experiment to introduce a new jargon “Pytdepe” designed to banish confusion. Since the language is gibberish which no one can speak or understand, a Translation Centre must be set up to teach it. This is only the beginning in Havel’s tantalizingly nasty play laden with irony, comic high-jinx, and the absurdity of modern life.-dt

“An extraordinary comedy-melodrama-thriller… and apocalyptic play.” – London Sunday Times

“Disturbingly hilarious as it is remorselessly horrific.” – Evening Standard
