About This Show

EXTENDED DUE TO WONDERFUL AUDIENCE RESPONSE!!!!

Taking audiences on a roller-coaster ride of sequins, feathers and family values, La Cage Aux Folles high-kicks its way onto the Knightsbridge Theatre stage. This classic Broadway-style musical will run in conjunction with a different charity each weekend, hoping to give back to the Los Angeles community in addition to lighthearted, spirited entertainment. Broadway’s first gay-themed musical is based on the play La Cage Aux Folles by Jean Poiret (and book by Harvey Fierstein), from which the hilarious English-language film The Birdcage was based. Set in the present day, the Knightsbridge’s production takes place in a Silver Lake bar and pays homage to cultural icons and history, inspired by the glory days of old-style drag bars, cabarets and entertainers. Each weekend of La Cage will be dedicated to a different charity, with donations collected from the audience – half of the donation proceeds will go to that organization and the other half will support our nonprofit theatre company.

Week 1 will put the spotlight on Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS;
Week 2, AIDS Project Los Angeles;
Week 3, Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Greater Los Angeles;
Week 4, PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays), Los Angeles chapter;
Week 5, Inside Out Community Arts;
Week 6, Project Angel Food.
