About This Show

Young Eugene Rastignac is a poor, idealistic law student residing at Madame Vauquer’s Boarding House in Paris. Amongst the other boarders are the smooth-talking Vautrin, who uses his knowledge of French law to manipulate Eugene into a marriage scheme from which he would also profit, and the elderly Pere Goriot, father to the snooty Anastasie and the married Delfphine. As Eugene becomes increasingly entagled in Vautrin’s scheme and Goroit’s knotty family life, he finds himself faced with a question of ethics, and the heart.
