Fire Eater is the story of a Yankee temperance preacher’s travels to famine Ireland. This errant philanthropist, armed with Emersonian idealism and the conviction that the Irish were drinking up their food source of hops and grains, encounters a beautiful scullery maid, pagan crones, an oversexed heiress and would-be martyrs that populate the bogs, bedrooms and confessionals of this irreverent look at history and hysteria.
With it’s strong belief in the transformative nature of the human spirit, Workshop 360 continues in its commitment to produce works that are challenging, provocative and socially relevant, with particular emphasis on issues of sexual orientation, gender, diversity, race, class and the politics of power.
