New York City
Dames at Sea is an engaging, tap-dancing musical comedy satire, which affectionately spoofs the 1930s’ Busby Berkeley backstage films. Featuring book and lyrics by George Haimsohn and Robin Miller and music by Jim Wise, the original production was an Off-Broadway sensation featuring a plot, which parodies the classic film 42nd Street. A would-be chorus girl arrives in New York with only a pair of tap shoes in her suitcase and a prayer in her heart — to win stardom in a big Broadway show. The irresistible score features such winning numbers as “Raining in My Heart,” “Good Times Are Here to Stay” and “Broadway Baby.” Guest Artist Michael LaFleur directs with choreography by Valerie Rachelle and musical direction by Callum Morris.
