About This Show

LA WEEKLY raves, “A formidable performance!” as performer and master impressionist Vincent Cook takes you beyond the stories, feature films and documentaries, digging into the soul of the man loved and respected by millions – a tribute to Ali, Joe Frazier and the other boxing greats of our time. Directed by Tony Spires, ALI shares his intimate feelings as well as his public triumphs, highlighting the historic battles in the ring and out, revealing his biggest fight of all. Outspoken and larger-than-life, Ali is also a sensitive, thoughtful and oftentimes comical man who loves humanity and champions world peace. Creator/performer Cook opened for such luminaries as Luther Vandross, Patti Labelle and The Temptations and was hand-picked by Richard Pryor for his last live stand-up comedy tour. Cook worked with Will Smith and Jamie Foxx in the movie ALI and Halle Barry in director Robert Townsend’s B.A.P.S. He currently appears in the series 1st Amendment Martin Lawrence Presents. Co-author/director Tony Spires is writer/producer/director/co-star of the feature films Two Degrees and the ode to the Black stand-up comedians Tears of a Clown, and founder and executive producer of the nation’s longest-running urban comedy festival: The Bay Area Black Comedy Competition.
