Two middle aged women leave their husbands behind and set out on vacation to India. Katherine dreams of a life that goes beyond the Westchester Country Club, while Margaret prefers to see the fabled land from “a comfortable seat, somewhat at a distance.” In truth, both women harbor losses from years ago and are seeking peace, healing, and more authentic lives. Who but the Hindu god Ganesh could intervene? He is the spiritual center around which the play spins. Fluid in his power to assume any guise, Ganesh draws upon the tragic and the comic, the exquisite and the grotesque, until a breathtaking release arrives for both women on their journey.
