Fresh from its International Tour to China and Italy, Tim Robbins directs this Actors’ Gang production of Shakespeare’s magical comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream, adding original music and minimal costumes, props and scenery. This whimsical story of romance, mischief and magic follows four young lovers into the woods on a midsummer’s night as they become the unwitting victims in a lover’s quarrel between the king and queen of the faeries. When a group of local folk rehearsing a play in the forest also gets caught up in the madness, the comical snarl of spells seems impossible to sort out. But with fairies and sprites all around, it just takes a little more magic and, as Puck puts it, “all is mended.”
