About This Show

The Imaginary Invalid, Moliere’s best-loved comedy, is a satirical send-up of doctors and patients. Argan, a stingy hypochondriac, wants to marry his daughter Angélique off to a medical student so that he can always have a doctor on call. His greedy wife Béline wants the girl safely locked up in a convent — away from Argan’s riches. But Angélique is in love with Cléante, who courts her under the guise of music lessons. Leave it to sassy servant Toinette to develop a plan that will cure all the family’s ills!

Presented as part of The New Generation, a showcase of MFA graduate thesis projects for the directing students at Brown.
