This year marks a major milestone as
Preservation Idaho celebrates the 20th Annual Heritage Homes Tour (HHT) — our
biggest and most exciting tour yet! Join us for a special journey through a
collection of Boise's historic and architecturally significant homes, where
history, architecture, and community come together. The tour will take place in
Boise’s Warm Springs neighborhood, with this year’s tour focused on Mobley
Drive.

To commemorate this landmark anniversary,
we're expanding the celebration beyond the homes with a lively neighborhood
block party featuring community, food vendors, and a special anniversary
gathering. Together, we'll celebrate 20 years of preserving Boise's
architectural heritage and sharing it with the community.

Whether you’re a history enthusiast, an
architecture aficionado, or simply curious about the stories behind these
iconic homes, HHT promises a rewarding experience that celebrates the rich
heritage and cultural importance of selected neighborhoods in Boise.

Thanks to the generosity of homeowners, the Heritage Homes Tour offers the rare opportunity to step inside privately owned residences for one day only while discovering the stories of the people, neighborhoods, and design traditions that helped shape Boise.

TOUR DETAILS

With the permission and
generosity of the homeowners, the tour opens six (6) privately owned homes to ticket
holders for one day of architecture, history,
neighborhood and community storytelling, and preservation education. Those with
tickets will explore the inside of these homes with the assistance of
knowledgeable docents, house managers, and volunteers.

This year's featured neighborhood is Mobley
Drive in the Warm Springs neighborhood — a postwar community that reflects
Boise's mid-century growth through its distinctive architecture, landscapes,
and evolving patterns of everyday life. The tour places these homes within the
broader story of postwar architecture and historic preservation across Boise
and Idaho. Mobley Drive offers more than a collection of private houses. Its
low roofs, carports, picture windows, patios, lawns, garages, and mature trees
show how Boise families lived after World War II. The street turns architecture
into daily practice: school runs, backyard meals, garage entries, front lawn
conversations, weekend maintenance, and neighborhood trust.

Explore a distinctive collection of
mid-century homes from preserved originals to thoughtfully updated spaces.
Highlights include vintage interiors, indoor-outdoor living, and inspiring
design details throughout. Between homes, enjoy food trucks and a community
block party. This is a self-guided experience showcasing mid-century homes,
where remarkable architecture, fascinating stories, and the enduring character
of one of Boise's most distinctive neighborhoods come to life.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

• Tickets: You do not need to bring a receipt or ticket; your name will be on
  a checklist at check-in. Tickets are non-refundable but transferable. If
  tickets are transferred, simply let your
  guest know to check in under the name of the ticket purchaser.

• Check-in: Check-in outside the main entrance of Adams Elementary. All attendees
  must check-in to receive a wristband, program booklet, and shoe covers to begin
  your self-guided tour of six private homes along Mobley Drive. The tour starts
  and ends at Adams Elementary. A tour wristband and shoe covers are required for
  entry into all homes.
• Ticket Pick-Up: Your name will be on our list; no
  printed tickets are required. After you check-in, you may visit the
  homes in any order. VIP Preview Party ticket holders do not need to check-in, they
  can start their tour promptly at 10 AM.
• Tour Hours: Check-in is available between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, and homes will close at 3:00 PM. If you check in after 2:00 PM, you may not have time to visit all the homes.
• Tour Route: The route is roughly 1-mile round trip, depending on the
  streets you take. You may explore the homes at your own pace between 11 AM and
  3 PM in any order you choose. You don’t need to visit the homes in numerical
  order, feel free to explore them at your own pace.
• Self-Guided Tour: This is a self-guided tour. Volunteer docents will be stationed throughout each home to share insights into its history, while the program booklet handed out at check-in provides additional background on the neighborhood and featured homes.
• Weather: Tours will happen rain or shine. Plan accordingly, bring
  comfortable shoes, jacket, and an umbrella if needed. 
• Parking: Street parking is available on public streets near Adams Elementary, though the area will be extremely busy. We encourage carpooling or alternative transportation. Bicycle parking is also available near check-in. Park thoughtfully by not blocking driveways or the front of featured homes, avoid turning around in neighbors’ driveways. Drive slowly, and be on the lookout for pedestrians.
• Restrictions: Backpacks, strollers, open drink containers, pets, and food are
  not allowed inside the homes. Small handbags are allowed inside. No
  sitting on furniture, please supervise children. Booties will be provided at
  check-in and must be worn inside all homes. If you prefer to go shoeless,
  that’s cool too, just keep those socks on! Use of private restrooms permitted. We encourage tour-goers to use the facilities at Adams
  Elementary. Please avoid walking on lawns and stick to the walkways.
• Accessibility: The homes are not wheelchair accessible, and most have stairs.
  Please be cautious and watch your step. If you have mobility concerns,
  please keep this in mind while planning for the tour. We recommend comfortable
  footwear and taking your time as you explore the homes. For special
  accommodations, please contact us before the tour. 
• Privacy: All homes are private residences, open only during the tour from 11:00 – 3:00.
• Photography is allowed outside only;
  no interior photography is permitted.
• Please be respectful of neighbors and tour goers as you navigate through the neighborhood and featured homes.

IMPORTANT REMINDER

The check-in area is located outside, so please dress appropriately for the weather. Check-in tends to be busiest around 11 AM, so consider arriving a bit later for a smoother experience. You can start the tour in any order — you don’t need to follow the numerical sequence. Home #1 is often the busiest early on, so beginning elsewhere may help you avoid crowds. The tour is self-guided, allowing you to move at your own pace. How long you spend in each home is up to you; some visitors finish in about an hour, others take three hours.
