About This Show

Sweat is a United States premiere written and directed by South African poet and political activist Walter Chakela. It is a deeply moving, poetic story that reveals the hard times of Apartheid and the current Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Fantastic South African music, traditional storytelling, and exotic dances help show how angry villagers and workers deal with various government officials, communists, and their own personal tribulations during a time of tremendous upheavel and change.
