Meet the New York Animals of Bedlam's Latest Production
New York Animals, a new drama by Spring Awakening Tony winner Steven Sater with music by legendary Grammy and Oscar winner Burt Bacharach, is currently kicking off the 2015-16 season of the acclaimed downtown theater troupe Bedlam.
The play weaves together the hilarious and tragic stories of 21 New Yorkers as their lives intersect during a rainy Manhattan day. The production is directed by Eric Tucker and began performances November 14. The limited engagement, which stars Debra Barsha, Blanca Camacho, Ramsey Faragallah, Lena Gabrielle, Jo Lampert, Edmund Lewis, Susannah Millonzi, Eric Tucker, David Wearn, and Spiff Wiegand, runs through December 20 at the New Ohio Theatre.
Bedlam is a company committed to the immediacy of the relationship between the actor and the audience. With large ideas and modest budgets, Bedlam creates theater in a flexible, raw space, presenting new writing, contemporary reappraisals of the classics, and small-scale musical theatre.
