Following an engagement this holiday season at The Kennedy Center, Bright Star, a new musical from Grammy winners Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, will make the move to Broadway. It will begin performances at a Shubert venue to be announced on March 7, with opening night set for March 31.

With book and music by actor/musician Martin (Father of the Bride) and music and lyrics by his writing partner Brickell, Bright Star follows a young soldier who is just home from World War II. With the editor of a Southern literary journal, he discovers a secret that changes their lives. Directed by Walter Bobbie, the show had its world premiere run at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre in 2014.

The principal cast also includes Paul Alexander Nolan (Daddy Long Legs), Michael Mulheren (Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark), Hannah Elless (Godspell), Stephen Bogardus (Passion), Stephen Lee Anderson (Footloose), Emily Padgett (Side Show), Jeff Blumenkrantz (Murder for Two), and Dee Hoty (Gigi). The company is completed by Maddie Shea Baldwin, Allison Briner, Max Chernin, Patrick Cummings, Sandra DeNise, Richard Gatta, Lizzie Klemperer, Michael X. Martin, William Michals, Tony Roach, Sarah Jane Shanks, and William Youmans.

The production will feature choreography by Josh Rhodes, scenic design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Jane Greenwood, lighting design by Japhy Weideman, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, musical supervision by Peter Asher, musical direction and vocal arrangements by Rob Berman, and orchestrations by August Eriksmoen.
