Rattlestick Extends the World Premiere Run of Craig Lucas's Ode to Joy
Kathryn Erbe, Roxanna Hope, and Arliss Howard star in the production.
Rattlestick Playwrights Theater has announced that the world premiere of Ode to Joy, written and directed by Craig Lucas, will extend through April 19 at the Cherry Lane Theatre. The three-week extension is attributed to strong reviews for the play, which was originally scheduled to run through March 30.
Ode to Joy tells the story of love, heartbreak, addiction, and illness through the eyes of Adele, a painter, and her destructive relationships with Mala and Bill. The cast features Kathryn Erbe, Arliss Howard, and Roxanna Hope.
The production features set design by Andrew Boyce, costume design by Catherine Zuber, lighting design by Paul Whitaker, and sound design by Daniel Kluger. The production manager is Eugenia Furneaux, and the production stage manager is Michael Denis.
Craig Lucas is the author of the plays Prelude to a Kiss, God's Heart, The Dying Gaul, Stranger, and The Singing Forest. His screenplays include Prelude to a Kiss, Reckless, The Secret Lives of Dentists, and The Dying Gaul. Lucas has written the scripts for the musicals Marry Me a Little, Songs by Stephen Sondheim, Three Postcards, and The Light in the Piazza.
