Laura Osnes, Santino Fontana, and Broadway's Cinderella Head into the Recording Studio
The Rodgers and Hammerstein musical is preserved for a cast recording.
The cast of Broadway's Cinderella headed to MSR Studios on Monday, March 18 to lay down tracks for the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical's forthcoming Original Broadway Cast Recording. The album, to be released by Ghostlight Records, is produced by David Lai, David Caddick, David Chase, and Bruce Pomahac, with Kurt Deutsch serving as executive producer.
Cinderella, running at the Broadway Theatre, features music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, as well as a new book by Douglas Carter Beane. Mark Brokaw directs the production, which includes music adaptation and arrangements by David Chase. Andy Einhorn is music director and conductor. The cast is led by Tony Award nominee Laura Osnes (Bonnie and Clyde) in the title role and Drama Desk Award winner Santino Fontana (Brighton Beach Memoirs) as Prince Topher.
The cast also features Tony Award winners Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza) as the Fairy Godmother and Harriet Harris (Thoroughly Modern Millie) as Madame, along with Peter Bartlett (The Drowsy Chaperone) as Sebastian, Ann Harada (Avenue Q) and Marla Mindelle (Sister Act) as the stepsisters, and Greg Hildreth (Peter and the Starcatcher) as Jean-Michel. Featured in the ensemble are Jill Abramovitz, Kristine Bendul, Heidi Giberson, Stephanie Gibson, Shonica Gooden, Kendal Hartse, Robert Hartwell, Laura Irion, Andy Jones, Andy Mills, Linda Mugleston, Peter Nelson, Nick Spangler, Cody Williams, Branch Woodman, Kevin Worley, Drew Franklin, Adam Jepsen, Alessa Neeck, and Kirstin Tucker.
In addition to all of the well-known and beloved songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, including "Ten Minutes Ago," "In My Own Little Corner," and "Stepsister's Lament," this recording will feature several of the songwriting duo's trunk songs, which have been incorporated into this production.
