Christine Toy Johnson, Lan Tran, and More Set for Pan Asian Repertory’s NewWorks 09

Pan Asian Repertory Theater will present NewWorks 09, a four week festival of plays, shorts, solo performances, comedy, and music, to perform at the West End Theater, March 16-April 11.

Highlights will include the world premiere of Elsa Okon Rael’s ghost-love story for family audiences, The Secret of O-Sono (March 25-April 5), to be directed by Ron Nakahara; Lan Tran’s one woman comedy Smart Ass (March 18-22); writer/performer Paula Irun’s one-acts Ramona and Dinner (April 7 & 8); and writer/director Juyoung Hong multimedia adaptation of entitled A Day After the Day (April 9-11).

Newworks will also include three “Monday Music Nights” featuring Christine Toy Johnson with special guest Bruce Alan Johnson (March 16), jazz pianist Helen Sung (March 30), and Steel Pan percussionist Andy Akiho (April 6). There will also be a dance/music/theater collaboration between Mitsu Salmon and musician ryotaro, and a performance by emerging musician Lucas Kwong.
