Broadway Stars to Get Bare on Fire Island
Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS' Broadway Bares Fire Island: Calendar Girl will take place June 1.
Broadway Bares has announced that it will return to Fire Island with Broadway Bares Fire Island: Calendar Girl on June 1. The evening will feature two intimate performances at Whyte Hall's Brandon Fradd Theatre, presented by Fire Island Pines Art Project and produced by and benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
Broadway Bares Fire Island: Calendar Girl is a performance involving more than two dozen dancers stripping their way through the calendar year. Inspired by 1999's Calendar Girl performance in New York City, the Fire Island show will feature several new numbers as well as classic favorites. The show will be followed by a rotation where the dancers freestyle-dance for individual donations.
Broadway Bares marries burlesque with the razzle-dazzle of Broadway and has, since its inception in 1992, become one of BC/EFA's signature events. Throughout the last 22 editions, the show has raised more than $9.8 million for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots) is executive producer and creator of Broadway Bares. Michael Lee Scott will serve as director for Broadway Bares Fire Island.
