Brooklyn’s Gallery Players have announced its 2009-2010 season, which will kick off with John Guare’s The House of Blue Leaves (September 12-27), followed by the new musical Top of the Heap (October 24-November 8), featuring music by Jeffrey Lodin, with book and lyrics by William Squier. The winner of the 2007 National Musical Theater Network Director’s Choice Award and the 2006 Global Search for New Musicals, the show is set in 1955 New York City as the Brooklyn Dodgers are about to square off with the Yankees in a World Series.

Christopher Durang’s Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge (December 5-20) is a comic departure from the Dickens holiday classic that also morphs into parodies of Oliver Twist, The Gift of the Magi, and It’s a Wonderful Life. The new year will begin with Tony Kushner and Jeanine Tesori’s Caroline, or Change (January 30-February 21), set in 1963 Louisiana, and centering on the Gellman family and their African-American maid.

Arthur Miller’s The Crucible (March 20-April 4) is his classic play about the witch-hunts and trials in 17th century Salem, Massachusetts. The season will conclude with the Cy Coleman-David Zippel-Larry Gelbart tuner, City of Angels (May 1-23), which interweaves two plots, one dealing with the writing of a screenplay in the legendary Hollywood of the ’40’s; the other, the enactment of that screenplay.

In addition, The Gallery Players will present its 13th Annual Black Box New Play Festival (June 10-27) and host The Peanut Gallery, A Musical Theater Summer Adventure Camp! in July of 2010.
