David Henry Hwang to Write Disney's Live-Action Musical Adaptation Hunchback

According to published reports, Tony Award-winning playwright David Henry Hwang (M. Butterfly) will write the screenplay for Disney's Hunchback, a live-action musical adaptation of Victor Hugo's The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz will write the music, and Josh Gad will be one the producers. Casting will be announced later.
The film will pull material both from Hugo's original novel and the 1996 Disney animated film, for which Menken wrote the score. It will not include any material from the recent Menken and Schwartz stage musical.
