Tony Award nominee Jeff Goldblum will join the Broadway cast of Theresa Rebeck’s play Seminar, currently at the Golden Theatre, as Leonard for an eight-week engagement beginning on April 3. He will replace Alan Rickman, who departs on April 1.

The work, directed by Sam Gold, centers on four young writers who are participating in a private seminar taught by Leonard, a brilliant but unpredictable literary legend.

The cast currently features Hamish Linklater, Jerry O’Connell, Hettienne Park, and Lily Rabe. No announcement has been made as to whether any of the current cast will continue.

Goldblum received a Tony nomination for The Pillowman, and his other stage credits include Speed-the-Plow, Twelfth Night, and The Prisoner of Second Avenue.

His many film credits as an actor include Jurassic Park, The Fly, and Independence Day, and he was nominated for an Academy Award for directing the live-action short film Little Surprises.

He starred on the TV series, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, will appear on the February 14 episode of FOX’s Glee, and was nominated for an Emmy Award for his appearance on Will and Grace.
