Tony Award winner Rupert Holmes -- represented on Broadway this season with the revival of The Mystery of Edwin Drood -- and Oscar-winning songwriter Paul Williams will perform in Rockers on Broadway – Behind the Music, at the newly re-designed Cutting Room (44 East 32nd Street) on Monday October 15. Both men have also been named as the evening's lifetime achievement honorees.
This latest edition of Broadway's favorite Rock and Roll concert series honors the crossover talents of songwriters who have written chart topping hits as well as musicals for theater, film and television. The evening will feature a line-up of rock stars and Broadway performers singing tunes written by pop and rock and roll luminaries including Elton John, Pete Townshend, Duncan Sheik and Billy Joel. There will also be a tribute to the late Marvin Hamlisch.
Proceeds will benefit The ASCAP Foundation's Children Will Listen Program, The Broadway Dreams Foundation and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
