Paul Hurley, a United States Navy veteran injured while attached to the Mobile Security Squadron 3 Detachment in Bahrain, has joined the cast of Healing Wars, a new theatrical dance piece from choreographer Liz Lerman at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater. The production runs from June 6-29.

Hurley lost part of one leg while serving in 2006 and later recovered at Walter Reed and Bethesda Military Hospitals. The show examines the damaging impact of war and the healing that follows.

The creative team for Healing Wars includes sound design by Darron L. West, scenic and costume design by David Israel Reynoso, lighting design by Heidi Eckwall, and video by Kate Freer. The piece is conceived and directed by Lerman, with choreography developed by Lerman and Keith A. Thompson in collaboration with the performers.
