Charles Way’s retelling of Sleeping Beauty maintains its major themes, but has its own style, verve and added characters, including Gryff – half man and half dragon – and the Spider King. In the classic battle between good and evil, a terrible curse is put on a young princess, who falls into a hundred-year sleep on her sixteenth birthday. The only one left awake is a prince who must conquer the forces of evil and restore happiness to the kingdom of true love’s kiss. Rita Giomi directs.
