The Gondoliers
$20.00; $10.00 matinee
Capitol Hill Arts Workshop presents a new, and slightly twisted, version of the Gilbert & Sullivan classic, The Gondoliers. The land of Barataria is in need of a king. The Grand Inquisitor has named one, but nobody knows exactly who it is. You see, the true prince was stolen from his home by the Grand Inquisitor after the king of Barataria became “a Wesleyan Methodist of the most bigoted and persecuting type,” and taken to Venice. Now, with the king dead, the prince must be found. Believed to be one of two gondoliers, the prince’s identity remains unknown until the nurse that cared for him can be found.
In addition to the regular schedule, one matinee performance is arranged for Saturday, August 5 at 3:00 PM.
