H. Lee Gable and Gaurav Gopalan adapt and direct Tom Stoppard and Marc Norman’s Academy Award-winning screenplay, Shakespeare in Love.
Young playwright William Shakespeare is struggling with his latest work, Romeo and Ethel, the Pirate’s Daughter, when he meets Viola, a great fan of his, who is young, wealthy, and about to be married to the cold-hearted Lord Wessex. Viola also constantly dreams of acting on stage, a profession women were barred from in 16th century England, and, dressed up as a boy, she successfully auditions for the part of Romeo. Soon, she and William are caught in a forbidden romance that provides rich inspiration for his play.
Shakespeare in Love is presented as part of the Sort of Shakespeare Series.
