About This Show

Director Stephanie Lynn Williams is offering a new spin on this epic musical by producing it in ‘steampunk’ style, which is a blend of Victorianism and Industrialism. The style will be incorporated into the show primarily through set design and costumes, while the acting styles and message of the show remain true to its roots. “Although the show takes place during the Industrial revolution, many of the themes are relevant to today’s society and our Information revolution, including the economic downturn of a society – rich getting richer, poor getting poorer,” said Williams. “We want people to think about the parallels between the themes in the show and our current political and economic climates.”

Les Miserables is an epic story that recounts the struggle against adversity in 19th century France. The story features Jean Valjean a petty thief who upon being released from his 19-year prison term struggles to make a decent, honest life for himself. Les Miserables features familiar songs, such as “I Dreamed a Dream,” “Castle on a Cloud,” “Stars,” “Master of the House,” “Bring Him Home,” “Empty Chairs, Empty Tables,” “Little Fall of Rain,” and more.
