Heidi is a musical based on the classic Victorian novel about the orphaned Heidi, who moves from a small Swiss village to the Alps, on to Frankfurt, Germany and finally back to her beloved mountains (complete with singing goats!). As she goes, Heidi brings joy to the people around her: her lonely grandfather and teenage neighbor, Peter, in the Alps, as well as her sickly friend, Clara, in the city. This richly emotional show celebrates the power of love to restore hope for the future and a better life.
The musical is based on the novel by Johanna Spyri, and adapted by Washington, D.C. writers Martha King De Silva (book) and Joan Cushing (music and lyrics). It is directed by Imagination Stage Artistic Director Janet Stanford.
