Stanislavsky Theatre Studio’s new production of Crime and Punishment marks the 140th anniversary of Dostoyevsky’s masterpiece and the third time STS has approached a major Dostoyevsky novel. This original adaptation is by Andrei Malaev-Babel and Xavier A. Bonilla.
Crime and Punishment is considered one of Dostoyevsky’s gloomiest works. It screams of life’s ugliness. And at the same time, it is permeated with the author’s inimitable humor. It speaks of self-discovery and redemption, selfless sacrifice and finally of unconditional love and devotion.
