About This Show

As part of the 23rd Annual Baltimore Playwrights Festival, the Mobtown Players will present Empires Fall and In My Tribe.

Mark Scharf’s Empires Fall stars Chris Carver and Kim Reiss as Keith and Michelle, a young couple planning their upcoming wedding. When a home invasion shatters their happiness, they are forced to examine the “empire” they’ve created – their relationships, beliefs, expectations and behavior – and accept the fact that empires can, and do, fall. Angie Pollack and Carlos Del Valle complete the cast.

In My Tribe, by Kimberley Lynne, also examines the concepts of violation and vulnerability. Marianne Angelella plays Belinda, a young woman with a stalker named Max, who may or may not be a former co-worker. When Max traps her, Belinda fights back, becoming aware that she is capable of killing him in self-defense. Everyone keeps secrets, and one is our shared capacity to kill. Playwright Mark Scharf plays Max; Jesse Swain and Kate Sears also appear.

Gareth Kelly, who was last seen in You’re Scaring the Children at the Mobtown Theater last fall, directs both one-act plays.
