About This Show

From the creators of the acclaimed Romeo/Juliet REMIXED comes a one-of-a-kind, multi-media, site-specific experience. Static is the journey through the mind of a man paralyzed by fear. Unable to lead a normal life within society, Max finds solace working the late night security shift at Harbourfront Centre’s York Quay Centre.

The audience enters Max’s mind via MP3 players as he moves throughout the building. Each room entered becomes a different construct of his sub-conscience, a different period in his life. Here are the people and events that made Max the man he is. These characters, along with various art installations, push the story towards a blood conclusion. As the audience is forced to confront fear and witness how it paralyzes lives, Max must confront his past actions and recognize that he is solely responsible for his own journey.

Over the past year, creators Laura Mullin and Chris Tolley have collected “fears” from people around the world; the recordings are included in the show and also available at staticexperience.com.

Static is presented as part of Harbourfront Centre’s New World Stage International Performance series.
