About This Show

Forth Worth’s Jubilee Theatre presents Travelin’ Shoes in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. The heart-warming Gospel Quartet sound of the 1930s and 40s was an early precursor of the Rhythm and Blues and Rock N Roll vocal group sound as well as hip hop music so popular today. A stylistic amalgam of folk spiritual and jazz, the show is a tribute to those early proponents of Quartet Music with close harmonies, playful lyrics, and inspirational sounds. This exciting, foot-stomping musical revue explores the use of the narrative rhyme set against a driving acapella beat. “Ol’ Man Moses,” “Travelin’ Shoes,” and “Sampson” are examples of traditional folk-song performed by the five wonderful singers in this production.
