Zakir Hussain

Zakir Hussain, the undisputed master of the tabla, returns with another dazzling display of virtuoso Indian drumming from both the Hindustani (North Indian) and Carnatic (South Indian) traditions, both classical and folk. His performances have not only established him as a national treasure in his own country, but gained him worldwide fame. Widely considered a chief architect of the contemporary world music movement, his historic collaborations include: Ravi Shankar, Mickey Hart (of the Grateful Dead), George Harrison, and the Kodo Drummers. Joining Zakir at McCarter will be a troupe of virtuoso drummers and percussionists from throughout India, as well as special guest artists.
