About this show

The East Lynne Company, Cape May's oldest Equity Professional theatre company, brings back one of it's most popular and asked for productions, Spoon River. Based on Edgar Lee Masters' masterpiece, Spoon River Anthology, this version is once more adapted by East Lynne's artistic director, Gayle Stahlhuth, and directed by Luke Sickle. In this evening of poetry, song, and dance, four actors portray eighty citizens in the mythical town of Spoon River, Illinois, where lives are revealed that are filled with laughter, sorrow, and everything in between. Familiar tunes like "Simple Gifts," "There is a Tavern in the Town," and "Johnny has Gone for a Soldier" are intertwined throughout the evening, played, sung and danced by the four performers. On Friday, August 16, there will be an after-show discussion with the cast. On Friday, September 13, is an American Sign Language Interpretation.
