About this show

When On Your Toes made its Broadway debut in 1936, this musical by American theater greats Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart and George Abbott broke new ground. Gangsters, vaudeville and the Russian Ballet come together in this riotous romantic romp. An ex-hoofer persuades a Russian dance company to perform his friend's ballet, becomes romantically involved with the prima ballerina, upsets the jealous male lead and finds himself the target of a hired assassin with hilarious consequences. "On Your Toes" is a nimble comic affair, a lighthearted look at co-existence between Russians and Americans and between classical and modern art forms. The score includes "There's a Small Hotel," and "Slaughter on 10th Ave."
