About This Show

Based on the masterpiece by Miguel de Cervantes, the show is a play-within-a-play set during the Spanish Inquisition of the late 1600s. Thrown into prison, Cervantes attempts to win favor with his fellow prisoners by telling the stunning tale of Don Quixote, a knight who embarks on a romantic and noble journey to win the heart of a good woman and to capture "The Impossible Dream." Quixote pulls others into his world of naïve idealism, including malevolent muleteers, an innkeeper who dubs him a proper knight, and, most poignantly, a local wench named Aldonza, whom he believes to be his Lady Dulcinea. His family, meanwhile, is aghast at his flights of fancy and works to restore his sanity. But at what cost and to what end?
