About This Show

Tony Bennett says that four-time Grammy Award winner k.d. lang is, “the best singer of her generation.” The Times of London says she has, “…one of the sexiest, most sensual voices in all of pop music…” Her first indie release was A Truly Western Experience (1984). By her third release, Shadowland (1988), she was reaching the Top 10 on the country charts. Absolute Torch and Twang (1989) won the Best Female Country Vocal Performance Grammy, but revealed an increasingly sophisticated singing voice that would cross over in 1992 and yield a giant pop hit, “Constant Craving,” earning the Best Female Pop Vocal Performance Grammy. She regularly interprets the work of other songwriters, including an undertsated version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” a breathtaking cover of Roy Orbison’s “Crying,” and “Calling All Angels” from Wim Wenders’ film Until the End of the World, which she co-wrote with Jane Siberry. Her most recent release is Sing it Loud, recorded with her band The Siss Boom Bang.
