Opening with African chant, It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues is a rousing production that moves through some three dozen musical numbers that become an inclusive history of the blues in America. Including spirituals, Delta blues and on up to Chicago for some urban blues, the show traces this rich cultural heritage with as the New York Timesstated “plenty of stops along the dusty roads, river banks, broken country hearts and juke joints in between, [It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues] is more than a musical feast.”
