About This Show

Inspecting Carol pokes fun at the non-profit theater, annual holiday shows and wretched acting. In this deliciously irreverent play-within-a-play, the Soapbox Theatre Company is hoping to avoid bankruptcy by staging its annual production of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. An inspector from the National Endowment for the Arts who holds the key to future funding is due to visit. Unfortunately, the Soapbox’s eccentric actors and inept crew are behaving badly. Cast members are mangling their lines, lights are blowing out at the wrong times, props don’t work and during Scrooge’s vision of ghosts, a mariachi band suddenly starts playing. Add mistaken identities to the mix and chaos reigns.
