About This Show

Seattle Public Theater’s Youth Ensemble performs the classic Moliere comedy farce The Miser. In this unique production, actors furiously improvise their way through the play, with several ensemble members bringing behind-the-scenes madness onto the stage to accompany the insanity of the play itself. One of the greatest farces in classic dramatic literature, The Miser uses sharp wit and biting satire to draw audiences into the world of the tyrannical Harpagon, a ruthless, self-absorbed patriarch who’s perfectly willing to sacrifice his children for greed. When Harpagon’s plans to marry off his children are thwarted by their own love interests, a comedic chaos ensues.
