About This Show

Soul of a Whore is part apocalyptic drama and part comedy. It follows the tangled lives of preachers, pimps, strippers, blues-men, kidnappers and convicts. Its world exists somewhere in dream-time, and somewhere in reality.

Bill Jenks is a healer and the former leader of the Children of Jehovah. Recently released from prison (where he served fourteen months for misappropriation of funds from the very church he ran), Bill is on his way back to Dallas when he meets John Cassandra in a manic bus station. John Cassandra is also an ex-con, but more importantly he’s the brother of Mark “Cass” Cassandra, the man Bill Jenks shot not once, but twice. John is a religious fellow hell-bent on saving his mother from a Texas death sentence and he is convinced Bill Jenks can save her from the grave. Woven into the storyline are an ex-stripper named Masha – a woman running from her demons – and Will Blaine, a mirror to Bill Jenks and the executioner for the State of Texas.

Soul of a Whore is the third and final installment in The Cassandra Cycle. The Cassandra Cycle is a culmination of stories exploring the landscapes of prison cells, dodgy motel rooms, vehicular homicide, Greyhound stations, booze, talking televisions and a traumatized family – all set against a backdrop of a semi-mythical American West.
