About This Show

The Empty Space Theatre presents Postcard Plays, which is comprised of six pieces and is based on a 4″ by 6″ work of art designed by a nationally recognized playwright and mailed to hundreds of theatre professionals. Now, six Seattle-based directors and choreographers are charged with cracking the two-dimensional play codes and bringing them fully to life on stage. Audience members receive their own copies of the gorgeous and unique postcards so they can follow along and retrace the interpretive process of the performers.

Culled from hundreds of submissions and selected for presentation by the editors of the journal Play: A Journal of Plays, The Postcard Plays are:

Vacation by Ki Gottberg; directed by Braden Abraham
Time to Go by Bronwen Bitetti; directed by the Washington Ensemble Theatre
The Secret Bear by Robert Quillen Camp; directed by John Kazanjian
The Wonder-Seeker by Stephanie Fleischmann; directed by Wade Madsen
Play Viewed From A Distance by Gregory Moss; directed by Crispin Spaeth
Twisted Love by Ed Valentine; directed by Sheila Daniels
