On the movie set where their revival of the revival of the revival of Imitation of Life is being filmed, lot of over-acting is afoot. The Lana Turner/Douglas Sirk 1959 version of the melodrama is being "imitated" in this remake, but when each performer tries to out-shine Lana Turner and steal the scene, the trouble begins. Set against the remarkable story of Fannie Hurst's novel, this backstage farce unfolds into a hilarious and chilling examination of race, gender and class spanning from the 1950's through to today.
