About this show

True tales of resilience take the stage at Aunt Lily's Flower Book — tales of a grandfather who built the railroad, a father in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team while his wife is in Poston Internment Camp, aunts and uncles in Hiroshima, a violin, and the birth of a movement. Family stories and memoirs are woven together with archival photographs and historic film clips in this piece written and performed by Brenda Wong Aoki with live music by Emmy Award-winning composer and contra bassist Mark Izu, featuring koto master Shoko Hikage.
