About This Show

Winterworks is a three-part dance performance directed by Patricia Rincon and choreographed by Rincon, Liam Clancy, and Yolande Snaith. The show consists of three sections: “un-tongued,” “Moondrunk,” and “Real Gone,” each symbolizing political, personal, and social processes at work. “un-tongued” examines the practice of the art and science of forming, directing, and administrating states and other political units. “Moondrunk,” set to piano and opera music by Arnold Schoenberg, creates a space where the performers oscillate between intimacy and exposure, connection and isolation, and freedom and constraint. “Real Gone,” whose title is borrowed from Tom Waits’ poetic 2004 album, is a work crafted collaboratively with students as a set of choreographic conditions that invite performers as well as audiences to shift their orientation to themselves, to others, and to the work in progress.
