August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama The Piano Lesson is set in Pittsburgh's Hill District in the 1930s. The play tells the powerful story of a family and a magical hand-carved piano that represents their ties to slavery. When the two siblings have different opinions as to the fate of the heirloom, the family is taken on a journey through their past. This production also completes the canon of Wilson's work to be produced at the Public, beginning with Fences in 1989. Israel Hicks directs. Changes to Performance Schedule Saturday matinees at 2 p.m. on May 10, 17 and 24 Thursday matinee at 2 p.m. on May 22 The Tuesday, May 20 performance begins at 7 p.m.
