About This Show

First World Theatre Ensemble presents the world premiere of The Cooling Board, by Joseph P. Blake. The play explores our fascination with the preparing of the dead, which is in contradiction to our fear and unwillingness to accept death. Ever since there has been something live that would die, death has been camped at the headwaters of life with a bottomless collection bag. Now, death’s interest has been piqued by those who service the dead, and their professions of preparing shells of a former existence for a journey that will lead nowhere. Why, wonders death, do people fear it so much, but prepare for it so well?
